Should I start potty training?

DD is 2.6 y/o and although she has shown no interest (quite the opposite) in the potty, she throws massive tantrums EVERY time we need to change her nappy. She kicks and screams and has started screaming "don't hit me!" because that is what I tell her, but it is quite embarrassing, no need to say I have never hit her.

Anyway, DP was helping with this the other day and he suggested we should potty train her to avoid these. But the few times I have tolked to her about it she doesn't want to know and she never tells me she has done a poo. In fact, when she is doing in (you know how you can tell Blush, she tells me "bye-bye" or to go away or whatever so I stop looking at her. So I am fearing this will be even more difficult on the potty...

Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks!

She may like it better once she is potty trained, esp if she is able to take herself. See whether you can get her to take her knickers off, easier if she will wear dresses too. Ds seems happier in pants, he hated nappy change time too. Explain to her that once she is doing wees and poos on the potty there will be no more nappy changing and she can go by herself when she needs to.

So you think its ok to start the potty training then? I am always told by HV and other professionals that if she doesn't tell me that she has had a wee or a poo she might not be ready!

That sounds like a good idea, to link the potty with the end of the nappies, I will explain that and insist, and see if she asks to go on it...
