Just started going cold turkey with ds 2.6. He has been quite successful using potty while in nappies, but been too chicken while we have the school run. So this is our first proper shot at it. Yesterday started when I got home from work after lunch. He has refuused pants after doing 2 wees straight away, but was good when naked from waist down. He did well until dh decided to put him in a nappy when he was upstairs with him for 10min, dh put trousers on him and he had his first accident in 4 hrs but his wees are very frequent (every 20mins), and he seems to do this when in nappies too. I'm wondering how this pans out with potty training, esp on the school run. My girls were camels and could go for hours without needing the potty - no infections either.

Ds1 was like this too. It does all come together in the end. He is just used to going when he needs to and is just learning the sensation of needing to go.
If you want to brave school runs just make sure he goes before you leave and take spare stuff with you.
Tbh it was the getting ds out of the house that helped go longer between wees as he learnt to hold on and helped him learn that first sensation of needing to go doesn't mean he needs to go that second.

Thanks, how long do you think it took for the gap to widen? He went about every 20 min or so, but there were one or two gaps of almost an hour. Going to dentist tomorrow, and then the park for lunch if warm enough, so not sure how that will go. I reckon if I can get him going consistenly for an hour by end of holidays I can manage school run and after school activities, with the help of the travel potty.

Once I actually bit the bullet and did it, it only took a matter of a few days week at most.
I wasn't sure if he was ready but like your ds he had gone a few times with longer gaps so I knew he could do it he just needed to realise that he didn't need to rush off the second he felt the urge to wee.
I did invest in some trainer pants as well but only used them a couple of times it gave me peace of mind. They looked and felt like normal pants but they had a small amount of padding that held 1 wee for long enough for me to get him changed without soaking the co-op floor (voice of experience Grin) so he still got the sensation of being wet.
