Taking to toilet at night

Hi all, I havn't been on here for ages but wanted to ask some advice re my 3 year old. She has been dry during the day for about 7 months but we have only tried her without a night-time nappy this week. Anyway she is doing really well but I have been taking her through to the toilet before we go to bed and then she seems to be dry for the rest of the night.
Not sure if this is a bad habit to get into though as I am worried that I am actually preventing her from recognising herself that she needs to get up for a pee.
Any advice aout how best to proceed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I would try not taking her and see what happens. My dd1 2.7 surprised me and wakes up and goes to loo and returns to her bed no problem. We have a nightlight on the landing Smile

As long as she is fully awake, knows what she's doing, and walks there and back it shouldn't be a problem, but it isn't usually recommended now otherwise you are just teaching her to wee in her sleep if she is half asleep and has no recollection of being taken to the loo. I would try not taking her and see if she can manage on her own, otherwise you'll never know.

Do one night without taking her to the toilet and see what happens.

I was very brave with ds and just put him in pants 6 wks after he had been toilet trained, I was fully expecting to be up in the night changing sheets, but he slept through no problems.

I would be a bit wary of taking him to the toilet when he is asleep as it kind of encourages them to pee when they are not quite with it. My friend still does this with her 5yo!

Thans for your responses. I'll try not taking her tonight and see what happens!
