Ds 3.3 - will he ever be ready?

Because the buzz lightyear pants are feeling very sorry for themselves waiting for the moment the health visitor assures me will come. He just doesn't want to try, and when I've put him in pants there's just been no action potty wise.

Wait until he's ready. He will be. Keep talking to him about it, read him stories about the utter joy of weeing in a potty, tell him about big boys going to wee on the potty, keep the potty around, and it will come :)

Thanks patti! We pushed dd1 before she was ready and are determined not to with ds. It's a long, long wait! Luckily Pre school are brilliant and dd2 likes having a nappy buddy (she's seven months!).

Same here. Ds2(3.3) shows no interest despite the purchase of 'big boy pants' with Fireman Sam on them. Ds1 was done in 2 days, when at 2.5 he announced he wanted to. So this, is all new to me. Not sure whether to leave it till the spring/summer, and then have a mammmmmooooooth push, running around the house , with little on, when the weather gets warmer.
Just not sure what to do.

I had to take nappies away from ds1 as he had to potty train because his wees were so big they would leak like a jug being emptied all over the place. He was 3 and 1 week. He was the size of a 5 year old. He ended up doing a poo on his bedroom carpet and that potty trained him. It was horrible. In Germany there is no pressure to potty train and a friend of our friend didn't potty train their dd until she was 5. You definately can't train until they want to. Ds1 was dry at night at 2 and a half, but would not use the potty.

Glad it's not just us. I think it is beat to wait it out. Health visitor said so too. I just need to make sure that im waiting for ds benefit and not because I'm too lazy or busy with juggling needs of three dc. Suits fine-just marginally preferable to change nappies than mop up poo and puddles!

I agree. I kept my boys in nappies until they were dry as I couldn't deal with mopping up wee. I find nappies much more convenient than a newly potty trained child. You are not the only one. It is so difficult in this country as alot of women indulge in competitive parenting.
