dd is 2.5 and has instigated toilet training of her own volition. It has been however not been an easy road. She has with held both wees and poos at various times during the process.

About 4 nights ago she woke screaming and after 2 HOURs of trying to calm her down and figure out the problem she finally said she didn't want to wee in her nappy and so I took her to the toilet and she settled very quickly afterwards. Since then she has wanted no nappy at night...a couple of great nights then tonight she woke at 10 (not in uk btw am typing this at 1 in the morning) screaming. I fairly quickly worked out she needed to go to the toilet and offered to take her. It has taken 3 attempts, much screaming in between and 2 and a half hours for her to finally do a wee and she is now fast asleep!

Anybody had this, am at a bit of a loss, I don't want to force her to sit on the toilet but could do without 2 + hours of denial, screaming and sleep loss. I must admit I growled a bit in the end as she shares a room with her brother and her screaming was disturbing her and yet she also yelled blue murder about coming into our bed. When I growled I really just gave her the choice of going to the toilet, lying quietly in her bed or if she had to yell then she had to be in our room (dh away at moment and I am awake when she is upset anyway)

Any ideas? Soulmates? quick fixes?

Oh dear, that doesn't sound like fun. Have you tried lifting her perhaps at 10 and maybe again at midnight (assuming you sort of go to bed then)? With my three older, DC they were dry day and night at the same time but at night only because I lifted them a couple of times before I went to bed. They never woke up, but almost always did a wee.

I don't really know what else to suggest I'm sorry. My youngest is 2.10 and has been out of nappies for almost a year in the day but will ONLY do a bloody poo in a nappy, straight after her bath, and then is generally ok through the night without nappies; although that largely depends on how much she's been drinking in the afternoon/evening.
