Not started training yet but often dry overnight?

DD is 20 months. We had not really contemplated starting potty training until she was 2 (nursery also start at this kind of age). However, I've noticed several times recently that if we have had to wake her in the morning her nappy is dry. If she wakes herself (as most often happens) it is wet when we go in to her, but I'm guessing this is because she has done a wee since waking up. Is the fact that she is physically able to stay dry overnight an indication that we should be starting to think about potty training? She knows when she is doing a poo and tells me, but I have no idea when she is doing a wee - she doesn't seem to notice or mention this!

Suggests to me...
Physically her hormones are ready, but mentally she may not be ready to remember when awake (too immature). I think I would be tempted to try her on the potty & bottomless at home, etc. but only if you don't mind what happens to your carpets and only keep it up if she quickly gets the idea, she's too young to ask her to work hard at it.

I agree with ragged.

I have just trained ds (2.9mths) in the last couple of months, but he been dry at night for about 6mths. He was no where near ready during the day.

Even now he go on his potty but he won't go near 'the plusher' as he calls the toilet he just not ready.

Thanks both. It's useful to know that physical readiness does not necessarily mean that we have to start now.
