Night training- won't do a sleepy wee

My just turned 4 yr old ds decided he didn't want to wear nappies at night any more. 10 days ago we stopped using them!

He is doing really well, doesn't drink much after supper, has a wee before bed and really wants to go nappy free. Generally he has been "almost dry" meaning just a "dribble" on his pj bottoms. We have only had to change the sheets twice in the night and twice in the morning.

Is this good progress - first time we have done this!

I think a sleepy wee at 10 or 11 when we go to bed would solve this hurdle but when we have tried he shakes like a jelly and won't/can't do a wee!

Any suggestions????

This will only work if the child is happy to be woken fully and walk to the toilet, and is aware of what they are doing. It isn't really recommended to carry children to the loo while half asleep.

My advice is, not to take your son as he seems so distressed by it. He is doing well, so I'd let him take the lead.

One thing you may not be aware of that might help, is making sure he does a wee before going to sleep as well as before going to bed. There can be quite a long time between the two, especially with stories etc at bedtime.
