DS3 is 3.9yr potty trained Easter last year, very easily apart from poo's but we cracked that a few months back.

So all going good, he drinks alot so wee's alot and consequently we do have the odd wet bed maybe once a week/fortnight.

However in the last few days he's gone from sleeping right through (not even waking for a wee, which is normal for him) to wetting his bed twice a night.

I've taken the duvet right off now as can't afford keep washing the duvet!!

Anyone experienced this im wondering why he's suddenly doing this? DH thinks it might be an attention thing but im not so sure?

It could be due to increased liquid intake in the warm weather.

Have you tried taking him to the loo just before you go to bed at night?
My DD is 4 and I lift her from bed while still asleep. I hold her on the loo while she pees and put her back in bed without really waking her up. She never remembers it in the morning.
It gives us both the confidence that she can make it through the night.

sorry just comign back to this now. We had two dry nights but now back to wetting twice a night.

HV seems to think its emotional rather than physical as managed majority of last year dry.

DH is doing most of bed changes at night as im 30w pg with bad spd and struggle to get up and do sheets at night, so he's keen to sort this. Am very very reluctant to go back to nappies.

We've tried lifting, it seems to make no difference, same as limiting fluid intake so at a bit of lost cause with this.

nicola, I agree with the HV. He is your youngest, and he knows there's another baby coming and that he won't be your baby anymore. Also he may be worried about you with your limited mobility due to the SPD. Suddenly mummy is very tired and can't do all the things she used to.

I would warn that if you lift a child to the toilet while asleep, all you are doing is teaching them to wee while asleep, so you may get a dry bed, but it isn't really helping them to learn to wake themselves to go to the loo. If you do decide to take him to the loo before you go to bed, wake him fully and get him to walk to the loo, so that he knows what he's doing. Not all DC respond well, and some have difficulty getting back to sleep afterwards, or are grumpy in the morning, in which case don't do it. It may benefit the DC to have a dry bed as a result, but in DS's case, You just have to wait until he is more emotionally secure, when I think the wetting will cease.

I think there are waterproof duvet covers available to buy; they might be a bit warm, but at least keep the duvet dry! You put them over the duvet with the cotton cover on top. Only the cotton cover and sheet to wash then.
