hello,

Dd is 21 mths and for the past few weeks has been weeing and pooing in the potty at home when nappy free ( bare bum)

She has done this off her own back and recently has had no accidents ( we leave her nappy free from wake till 10am and 430pm till bed.

Should i do knickers? What do you do when your out and about? How do you get them used to undressing?

Yes why not? Give it a go and see. We did similar with DS and went into pants at 22m. For about a week I was nervous when we were out and about, and put him on the potty every time we were going out, and then clocked the toilets straight away, but v few accidents and quite trouble free really. So give it a go in a low key way for 2-3 weeks and she will then be fine.

We started DD at about 22 months, and now at 25 months she is nappy free during the day and hasn't had an accident for a couple of weeks since we bit the bullet and put her in pants properly.

Every time we go out, we take her straight to the toilet of wherever we are (cafe / friends house etc) and show it to her and ask if she wants to go. She usually says no, but then will ask about 10 mins later and we go together and she does her thing on the loo.

All seems to be working very well so far - and as I have a 10 month old it's been amazing only having one set of nappies to change for a change!

We do take the potty with us if we're going somewhere that doesn't have easy access to a toilet, and she will go on it, but much prefers going on the loo.

I would give it a go. She sounds ready.
My dd was about that age when she decided that she didn't need nappies.
I took the potty everywhere and found the nearest toilets and took her to toilet as soon as we got to where we were going and lots of gentle reminders.

I have 3 dc - the youngest is 22 months and I just started potty training her a few days ago. When out and about, I have her in towelling knickers which you can get in the potty training section of Mothercare - the child feel wet (all part of the learning process) if they have an accident unlike if they were in the disposable pull up pants and will hold about 1 wee. Also, they are resusable of course which is a bonus. I keep spares and a spare set of bottoms with me along with a potette (portable potty) in the basket of the pushchair. So far so good though as she hasn't had an accident yet whilst out and about but I guess it's still early days.......At home, I tend to have her just in normal knickers.

My other two were both potty trained at around 22 months too. My DD1 went straight to normal knickers as I didn't know about the towelling pants and my DS had the same set up as DD2.

Good luck with getting out and about, sounds like she'll be absolutely fine as she's doing so well already.
