6 year old still not dry at night - keep her in pull ups or not?

I have tried in the last week to get DD to come out of pullups at night. But she is weeing twice a night even if I get her to use the loo before bed and ban drinks from 6pm. Lifting doesn't seem to work and she always wakes up with a wet pullup.

Should I let it happen naturally or force the issue.

Two lots of wet towels and sheets a night is frustrating especially as I am day training her younger brother. Getting sick of the smell of urine!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

i'd leave it for now - too much extra hassle.

I don't think you can force it to be honest, I had ds in pullups till he was almost 8 and he's fine now :)

agree with shesparkles

you dont need to stress her out - which forcing it might do...

Oh ok that makes me feel better :) She does keep saying she doesn't want to wear nappies like her friends but I just think she is not ready. She was slow to potty train too (was nearly 4 before she cracked it) so maybe she will be with this.

I got the impression that they would need to see a specialist if they weren't night trained by 7?

At 7yo, Locally, all the GP does is give you prescription for a bed wetting alarm. They don't prescribe medication any more (I think not, anyway). Bed wetting alarm goes off & the very grumpy heavy sleeper child is supposed to wake up & go use the loo -- which means me having very disturbed nights, too.

Neah, I can't be arsed.

Ha Ha! Specialist!

2 of my dc werent dry at 7 at night, i took them to the HV, we started star charts, all manner of techniques - didnt work, I gave up, and then they eventually cracked it - although one still occasionally did wet at night even at age 11... I had dreams of her wetting as an adult too.. stressful... but she got there!

We used a bed wetting alarm for ds,6, it was hell getting up in the night, but after 2 very long weeks, it worked! Looking back, it was def worth it, at the time it was a pain...
