At what age do I start the dry night training with my lo. How do you go about doing this?

Any tips or advice would be welcomed.

DD decided she didnt want to wear nappies just after she turned 3 but had been having dry nappies for a while anyway. Ds came out of nappies at night at 2 1/2 but again he had been dry in the morning for quite a while beforehand (dry in the day by the age of 2).

they need a hormone to kick in before its possible for them to be dry

In most children this happens at any time between 2 and 7 years old. and for some children later still.

no point doing anything at all until it has kicked in. (unless you want to stress yourself and child an overwork washing machine)

The hormone is starting to kick in around the time they have some dry nights /nappies

Gosh, I was'nt aware of the hormone thing nannyl, in fact I've never heard of it. I'm glad you replied, I was thinking it was some sort of training like potty training I had to do.

Lo has been wearing pull up pants at night, and they have been mostly dry for a while now, so if I continue with this until the pull ups have ran out, then this should be it do you think (provided lo does not wet one)?

When lo does go dry, would you advise to put some sort of protection on the bed just in case? If so, what would you recommend?

I use a single sized waterproof mattress protector on both my lo's beds 'just in case of' pee, puke, etc (they are aged 4 and 7)- mine are from Boots and have a cotton top with waterproof backing. You can also get disposable bed mat type things - found near the nappies at supermarket/boots, etc

Thanks seona, you've been a great help. I'll pop down and have alook at them.
