My DD turned 3 in november and has been in pants in day since she was about 2 n alf, however the night time seems likes its never going to end!! She still wakes up with a full wet nappy in the morning!!

She is a really big drinker all day and she goes to the toilet before bed, doesnt have a drink half hour before and still has a wet nappy in the morning??

Has anyone any suggestions what might help or do I just need to be patient?

Just give it time.

Achieving night time dryness has little relation to daytime dryness as it's more dependent on the production of a hormone that reduces urine production overnight.

The levels of this hormone raise to a high enough level to reduce overnight volume in most children by the age of about 4-5 but can be later for some children.

You're doing all the right things - drinking plenty to fill and empty the bladder throughout the day, tail off fluids for the last hour before bed and wee last thing. Remember that milk before bed takes longer to digest and so will be excreted as fluid much later in the night, so avoid milk at bedtime.

Try her without a nappy at about 3.5 or if her nappies get drier. Don't worry unduly just yet.

thanks for the response, she doesnt drink milk so that shouldnt be a problem (wont drink it since stopped her having it in a bottle!!)
Will just leave her for a bit see if they start to get dryer.

mummc2 - Your post exactly mirrors my DD and her night time training. She DID have about 3 days on the trot with a dry nappy but just as I was gonna start leaving it off her she reverted right back to being wet again. I can't relate it to any particular incident so haven't mentioned it since.

it's not like she won't go to the toilet on her own at night she just simply doesnt wake up.

Think i'm with you on this one & see how we get on, she isn't 3 till April.

keep in touch & let us know how she gets on.
