What kind of training pants are the best?

That's about it really! Dd is shakily starting to get closer to being potty trained, I think I just need to go to pants soon, but don't want her getting distressed at nursery when she is only just settled there. Also want to limit the mess on the floor! Had a look on eBay but there were so many - any recommendations?!

Just go for normal pants, training pants and pull ups are so much like normal nappies i didnt find they helped. Just buy cheap pants (get plenty) maybe with pictures of something she likes on like peppa pig etc and just go for it

Oh really? I was hoping training pants might be a bit more pant-like!

We've got all the Peppa/Dora/Princess pants under the sun but she still wees merrily in them - I thought training pants might help stem the flow a little at nursery!

Would she not feel she was wet in them?

My ds has been 'dry' since June/July but for about 4 months after i know if i put him a pull up pant on he'd wee in them. He didnt wee his pants much though whilst training, only for first 4 days so perhaps try them and see with your dd if she's weeing alot.... but if she's not bothered about weeing her pants i dont think nappys that lets them feel wet would bother her too much.

sorry if that was confusing lol. Good luck with the training. Alot of people recommend the froggy potty (from argos) my ds wouldnt sit on the potty and went straight to the toilet.

I use Bright Bots training pants from www.thenappylady.co.uk for DD who's 2.3. They won't hold a massive wee, especially if she does it while sitting down, but will contain a smaller one (or a 'didn't quite get to the loo in time') for long enough to get her to the potty. They're thick cloth, don't have a waterproof layer or a liner so she'll definitely feel wet. I find it sometimes helps prevent a big puddle on the floor, instead it's just her pants wet. At nursery when she was still having the odd poo accident I put DD in normal knickers then the pants on top - because of the terry-type inside, it's very hard to clean poo from the pants so I preferred keeping the normal knickers on first which I could either clean or just throw away if I couldn't face it.

Thanks all!

She is not bothered by wet pants, so I can see how training pants would maybe not be massively productive, but at some point we need to make the leap to her wearing pants a nursery, and I want to reduce the puddles on the floor!!

Like the double layer idea for poo accidents, esp when it's maybe not going to be me who has to clear up.

i wouldnt worry too much

nurserys are VERY used to puddles on the floor, and i think you need to accept that having children does mean puddles on the floor sometimes.

even a couple of years after being potty trained there may still be an occasional puddle on the floor too.

I suggest you dont stress about it and get a carpet cleaner booked in for a few months time.

most children potty train SO much faster when moved from nappies to pants, so long as they are ready
