Accidents at school

My daughter is nearly four and has been potty trained for nearly 2 years buthas started wetting herself at school in the last few weeks. The teacher says she is very happy and relaxed in class, and she does seem to be happy otherwise. I don`t know why she has suddenly regressed, although I think shyness in asking to go to the loo may come into it.
Has anyone any ideas??

I think it completely normal at that age. I would ask the teacher if she is worried about it; I bet she says many of them do it.

I would think many times it is because they get so engrossed in what they are doing.

Ask her if she feels happy to tell the teacher when she needs the loo.

Good luck with it. Smile

I was going to say like Chinwag, it is because she is very taken by whatever activity she is doing. When in nursery they only have to "keep it in " for up to 3 hours but once they strt school the time of occupation is longer and when therer are breakes she probably prefers to play with her friends than going to the toiletSmile.

My DD was the same at the start of school and it turned out she was nervous about going to the toilet as there were usually a few children in there at a time (unisex).

Do they have to ask to go? In reception at DDs school they were free to come and go as they pleased and now in Y1 they have to ask to go.

I would work with the teacher and possibly get a TA to encourage her to go a couple of times a day (and take her for a while if needed).

She will get used to school soon and it should stop though :)

Thank you everyone. Yes she has to ask and I think she is very shy, so maybe this is the problem.
