We are 2 days in and only had one accident today (when DH scared her) - BUT I am suggesting/bribing her to sit on the potty/toilet every 2 hoursish, think if I wasn't doing this there would be lots more accidents.... so do i just keep reminding her and eventually she will get the idea or do i jsut stop reminding her altogether??

please help!!
thanks so much :)

Depends on the child I'm sorry to say. My best friend did it your way and after a couple of weeks her dd started asking to go and they were away. My ds is a little more 'spirited' and used to get annoyed with my constant reminders....it didn't really click for him until I handed over control to him. Although I always make him go before we leave the house.

And just to add sounds like you're doing great as only on day 2!

I wish I could help - we're two days in too, and I'm musing on how to play things tomorrow. I've been asking him to sit more often than two hours, but he did nothing at all in the potty today, just two accidents and a wee in a nappy during his afternoon nap (he naps for a long time, and I like that, so am willing to use nappies for all sleeps not just at night). So I think I'll go for longer gaps, like yours, and simply reminding him 'the potty is there if you need it', 'remember to think about whether you need to use the potty' etc.

I don't think I'm expecting to not have to remind for a while, because they get so caught up in their play I think it's easy for them not to pay attention. But what I'm really hoping is to get to the stage where HE TELLS ME he needs a wee. I'm not entirely convinced that he's ready as so far the weeing still seems to take him a bit by surprise. He's yet to say anything in advance, he just says when he's having an accident 'oops, I'm having an accident' as he starts to wet himself.

Sorry not to be more help. But I'm happy to compare notes as we go on if you want! Grin

My DS1 needed reminding pretty much for the first 2 weeks. We tried leaving him on like day 4/5 and pooing was ok but weeing was often too late by the time he has said he needed! But after two weeks, when I asked him to go, he will say 'I'm AW-RIGHT!' if he doesn't need to. A month in and I do remind him if he hasn't gone for a while. But he will now tell me if he needs to go. However, his 'need-to-go' is very NOW so I have to rush him to the loo and sometimes, he would have had a dribble. I can live with that! :) Hope that helps.
