We have attempted potty training before as DD showed lots of signs and seemed to 'get' it most of the time, but then about 5 days in decided she was a baby and wanted milk from a baby bottle and to wear nappies and after 4 days of her weeing/pooing on the floor and stating she was a baby and needed a nappy I gave up (we were going on holiday 10 days later!) - so it is half term next week so no playschool so we are going to go for it! 99% of poos have been in toilet if out and potty at home for the last 4 weeks so I am hopeful as just need to crack the wees and she is telling us as soon as she has done a wee.... what would people recommend bare bum to start (or have we then got to teach her to move from that to having clothes on?), just pants or pants and leggings?

Any other fantastic tips??
thanks so much :)

On the clothes front I have found dresses with nothing under work great at first (with girls obviously!). I had a boy first and he found getting the trousers and pants down tricky and it was pretty disappointing to make it to the potty only to wet the trousers anyway! So, 2 girls later, we go for dresses (thankfully my girls have a silly number of dresses thanks to lovely hand ons!).

Other tips - buy pants a size bigger than your LO would need. We did a sweetie for a wee in the potty for the first couple of weeks and that worked well for us, we also have a "wee wee queen" song to the tune of Dancing Queen but I'll spare you the details! Give it 3 days and if it's not happening I'd quit for 3 weeks and then try again.

(we have the opposite problem and our dd2 is great at wees but asks for a pull up for a poo...!)

I had my DS just running around in his pants for a week. I also had 'Mummy's special bag", every time he did a wee or a poo in the potty he got to put his hand in the bag and took something out that was wrapped up in xmas wrapping paper and got to open it. Cost me a fortune in cars but after a couple of weeks he got the hang of it.

We now only have an accident every 6/8 weeks and a reward chart!

My son will be 4 in April and potty training him has been tough, he does not get it, today at pre school he soiled himself and went through two pairs of trousers! I have given up been doing it since January.

I read today this really witty blog of a Mother of Two tracey-confessionsofamotheroftwo.blogspot.com/2010/10/confessions-of-mother-of-two-curse-of.html

It made me laugh a lot, that cheered me up. I highly recommend.
