2 year old toilet training

I have a 2 year old. He just barely turned 2. He tells us when he needs a wee and runs to his potty or the normal toilet with his potty seat. If his nappy is on, he wees in his nappy. If he is nappy-free, then he does nothing but keeps running back there and sitting down and getting up again (no wee ever in potty/toilet yet). It's obvious when he's about to do a poo (squats) and he tells us just before and just after he's done it.

I want to start toilet training. I know that many will tell me to just wait...etc. I know. I will not do anything to stress him out. Any advice on how to get started?

Should we use pull-ups at first and when we go out when he's first starting out with it?

I'd give it a go and see what happens. You can always go back into nappies if after the first day/few days he hasn't made any progression. We tried DD just after she turned 2 and you'll know if they're not ready. She had done a few wees in her potty before bathtime etc so we went for it.

Got the gina ford book which suggests you go for it in 2 stages. First is to put them on the potty when you go to the loo and when they wake up in the morning, before nap and before bath. Then go into pants.

Or some people just go for it which I did and put them in pants one morning and keep putting them on potty. My DD was going on potty every 15 mins but then would wee after getting off (within few mins) and got upset so knew I wanted to stop as didn't feel she was ready.

I set aside a week (am a SAHM) when none of her clubs/classes on but have a friend whose little girl goes to nursery and she just started on the Sat and nursery carried on on the Monday and was a success. All ready at different times so give it a go. WOuld say avoid pull ups as they need to know the feeling of being wet so pants a good idea. And make sure you have plenty of them before you start as the washer will be on a lot!!
