Travel potties?

So dd has gone to nursery feeling very chuffed with her big girl pants.

I was wondering if anyone has a travel potty. Are they worth having? Or did they seem like a good idea but you've not used it very much?

I just don't want to be housebound until she can ask to go and hold it until I get her to a toilet!!
Thanks

I used the tommee tipee one as public toilets are few and far between here. I used my own bags and lined with kitchen paper. It certainly came in handy as dd1 had a phobia of leaves and pine cones so finding a 'free' space in the woods or wherever was hard work !

Thanks Rosa, that was quick!

So a thumbs up for the potty but not worth wasting money on extra liners then?

We have a potette plus for DS and it is very good. We bought the one with handles that you move down to create a potty for the floor, or move up to create handles for putting on an adult loo

You can buy potette bags which have an absorbent core for the wee - not that different to nappy sacks really. Not that green I agree but its not like you use it every day

Really handy in the park if they need to go NOW and no time to get to the loo!

I use a travel potette. You can either use as a potty (with their liner bags - which are expensive but I can't find any others to fit!) or you can use as a loo seat - perfect for little bums or dirty public toilets. It has been an excellent buy, it folds down very small so fits in a change bag, I have been using it for around 8 mths and it gets used about 4 times a week - always have it when we go out.

I know some kids quickly progress to using a toilet, and can hold on, but DD hates using hte toilet, and DS cannot hold on at all. You can at least whip this out anywhere. Altho that is probably a whole other MN thread - is it OK to use a potty in a shop??? (I say, better than a wet or pooey child!). I do have twins tho, so it gets double the use!

I do carry it everywhere - trains, planes, cars, but in the car I usually just chuck in a normal potty to save the expense of bags.

My sister has one and uses it loads too.

Thanks, I think that's made up my mind, I'll order one. Am a little worried about her getting cold if using it outside now the weather getting colder but I guess it's not forever!

Am going to pick her up at nursery in a minute and she how many pairs of pants/trousers she's gone through!!

We've got a My Carry Potty. It might be a bit bigger than the potette but it will fit in my change bag (just) and you don't need any bags. I think I'd be too embarassed to use it in in a supermarket aisle etc though and dd doesn't give any notice so we still go out in pocket nappies. I've found it very useful to use when we get back to the car though so I know we'll be ok on the way home.

Thumbs-up for the My Carry Potty from this household too!!! DD loves it and insists on carrying it herself too.

Top banana!

I have Travel Potete, used it only once or twice but carrying it everywhere and it gives me peace of mind. I would say worth having even though not much of use. But then we are not very outgoing people...

We use travel potette plus as described above and wouldn't leave house without it. DS is not keen to use loo and have used this all over. We spend slot of time out of the house so has definitely been worth it. Got mine from Boots.
