DD is 3 in 6 weeks and her nursery would like her to be potty trained by then if possible as she will move up to the preschool class. She's started showing an interest - she puts her doll on the potty and yesterday she voluntarily sat on it for about 10 minutes (the first time she's done that), although she was a bit frustrated that 'no wee came out'! She did do a tiny wee on it this morning but only because she was dribbling a bit when I changed her so I put her on it - despite lots of praise she's not gone back on it since.
I've been waiting for her to decide she wants to do it herself but as she's showing interest I think 6 weeks is reasonable, and I think I should just go for it, but I'm struggling with a start date.
I work 3 days a week - usually Tue/Thur/Fri. ExH has her while I'm at work, except for one morning when she's at nursery and one afternoon when she's at my parents. She's also at nursery on a Monday afternoon (one of my days off). I'd like to do the first couple of days with her so we get some consistency of approach, then I can let ExH/parents/nursery know what's working and what's not. That really means starting at a weekend then. This weekend we've got a BBQ next door on Saturday (weather permitting) and a toddler's party on bank hol Monday. The week after is an open day at the nursery on the Saturday but nothing else planned.
Should I start this weekend? What's the best thing to do with BBQ and party? Or should I wait until the weekend after? Similar question then with the nursery open day? I suppose there's never a convenient time but I don't want to leave it until the last minute. Nursery are very relaxed about it though, it's their preference that she's out of nappies but it's not a requirement, so maybe I shouldn't try and force it? Any suggestions would be welcome.
