Right...two days at home planned. Going to try and get the training going. Any ideas there is never a good time frame to do it.

He is 2.10 yrs old. Aware of pooing...doesnt tell me when he pees.

Going to do a quick trip to asda to look for some plastic sandals after seeing that idea on another thread.

Week ahead planned...anu suggestions or shall I delay yet another week!

Saturday...out and about with stepkids. Pull ups or not?

Sunday/Monday...with his daddy...just cant see him happening.

Tuesday. Step childs Birthday celebration

Wed: Day out for above birthday

Thurs Nursery

Friday: Can be home

Saturday: can be home

Loads of spare pants.

Loads of easy-to-remove trousers/shorts/joggers

Lots of time in the garden/outside

An efficient washing machine

Potties stationed everywhere!

There's never a good time, but you might as well give it a go! Good luck.

Don't bother with pull-ups if you can help it (unless it's a really important occasion); he'll think he's in a nappy.

leave it. why not just do it in the evenings when he is at home. take his nappy off and point him to the potty when he starts peeing.

i dont see the point in stressing over potty training - seriously. its not a race and everyone pisses in the pot eventually. so take your time - don't stress.

Don't plan beyond the two days at home, just have the potty around and see if he uses it with some kind of regularity - go from there.

If he doesn't want to use it over a day or two of gentle encouragement then give it up and try again in another few weeks. Just because he is 2.10 does not mean he is ready and if he doesn't want to do it and it turns into a battle you will not win and you will both go through a lot of unnecessary grief and stress. They decide when they are ready and then it will be easy.. if he is using the potty consistently, then is the time to leave the house with plenty of spare pants and clothes and a big mental note to regularly ask him if he needs to go.

Good luck!

oh yeah, get his dad to show him pissing in the toilet.

ping pong balls down the bog are a good aiming tool

Thanks guys....

His dad and I arent together....he barely remembers to brush his teeth and changes his socks when he has him so dont expect him to be an ally in the potty training.

Think I will carry on with the evening potty training and whenever we are at home in day too.

What about when we got out...easy up pants or nappy.

Nursery like him wearing easy up pants but I dont really like them (but have got a huge pack to use up!)

Swim shorts are quick to wash and dry, look good and pull down in a second. I know they aren't absorbent and won't hold messy poo accidents, but wee running down his legs is important to make him understand the sensation before he wees and what happens. Get the ones with the mesh lining, not the ones with a swim nappy, which might make him think he still has a nappy and wet them. Useful if a few days into his training you go to the park and you don't want him bare-bummed.
