Did anyone experience a dramatic shift in hormones after stopping pumping/BF?

So I was pumping/BF up until LO was about 5 months old (about 6 weeks ago). In the final weeks I was only pumping once or twice a day. In the last month or so I've noticed a huge shift in my hormones. Experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions, low energy, knackered even though LO only wakes once in the night now. I've been quite lucky with hormones in that they haven't impacted me hugely or lasted for a long stretch of time, whereas this feels intense! I'm a pretty chilled, positive person, love being a mum but everything just feels a tad heavy and hard at the moment, even more so than the newborn days in some ways. Unfortunately we don't have a "village", so it's just me and my partner muddling through together. I think maybe this is starting to weigh on me a bit recently as well.

I know stopping BF/pumping can cause a big dip, but is this still the case even if I was only pumping once or twice a day towards the end? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Would really appreciate any advice or hearing from people who have gone through the same.

Thank you for your kind words. It makes me feel better that this intensity is normal!

I knew there would be lots of hormone peaks and troughs, but this one has been the worse and longest lasting one by far. I just don't physically or mentally have the energy for much at the moment.

Oh gosh, I feel you on the Yorkshire tea ritual getting you through! My thing is strong coffee with a little sweet treat. Can't wait to feel more like myself again soon!

Totally feel you- and it’s completely normal for your hormones to be out of whack for months and years after a baby! Your body has just done one of the most physically stressful processes it could ever have done. Give yourself grace and remember that you can take small steps every day to start feeling like yourself again- it might not happen all at once, but it will happen. Honestly, doing things just the two of you is HARD!! And it’s okay to feel like it is.
