Memory

My memory is soo bad since having my latest baby (now 14 months).
things like which way to turn my keys in the door to lock it, having planned in my head something in front of me (easy) and then doing it wrong.
il know I've done something but I can't actually remember doing it.
Ive been to the GP for a different issue a few months ago and my ferritin was 33, I'm on supplements when I remember to take them, this was before I was back at work and I didn't maybe quite realise how bad it was, I thought it would improve but I've been back at work since January and now I'm worrying about my job.
Ive started writing lists of like main jobs at work that I need to do but sometimes it's just simple tasks.
This baby sleeps a lot better than my oldest, but I'm breastfeeding and we co sleep, I don't feel like my sleep is being disturbed overly much but I'm always so exhausted and it takes me a while to get going in a morning.
i drink 2-4l of water a day, I'm not really sure what I can do to help this brain fog/fatigue.
its really getting to me and I'm so worried I'd make a big mistake at work.
has anyone got any suggestions please on how to help?

I think I would go back to the GP and ask them to check your Ferritin levels again but also your Thyroid levels hopefully, it will just be low iron.

Have you thought about doing some gentle night weaning? I know it can be difficult if you’re exhausted anyway but if you’re off for the long Bank Holiday weekend it might be worth a try?

I can only imagine a mom and dad who are as tired as anyone can be, eager to see this article on sleep, and finding that we had made it unavailable for a little while!

Can i ask how old you are? I pretty much went straight into perimenopause after my youngest was born, but put all of the symptoms down as post natal ones (including memory loss, extreme tiredness and brain fog). It wasn’t until 6 months ago when my son was two and a half that I realised it couldn’t still be post natal hormones, had a chat with my doctor and I’m now on HRT and feel SO much better.

Hi, I could have written this!! 👋🏻
I’ve just put it down to baby brain but now I’m wondering if there’s more to it. It’s way worse since my 2nd (now 13 months). My baby sleeps terribly and my 3 year old still falls out of bed lots (a floor bed so don’t panic) but between them I’m up probably 4-6 times a night! The night before last it was 5 times before we’d even hit 1:30am! Maybe it’s just that but interesting to think about!
I’m also worried about my job but self employed so I can’t be fired!
I see someone has mentioned perimenopause , I’m 34 so hopefully not that!
Hope yours improves soon 🤞🏻

Thanks for responding! It had gone from 17 to 30 so I can't imagine it going down tbh, though I'm sure I might have some proper iron tablets hidden I might start taking again actually! My thyroid was fine 🙂 I enjoy feeding still I'm not quite ready to stop, we have plans to move baby into the other room with our 4 year old but itl have to be when we've both got a week off work together to work on it!

I'm 30 so I really hope not! Though I've not yet had a period in like 2 years due to breastfeeding so I'll defo think about that when I stop thank you!

So glad your Thyroid levels are good. That’s something at least Smile
