Stop / start bleeding four weeks after C-section and recent D and C

I had a C section 4 weeks ago. Then 6 days ago I also had a D and C to remove a very small amount of left over pregnancy tissue (1.1cm) because I was on off bleeding and it wasn’t getting lighter. The bleeding didn’t taper off after a few days of the D and C and actually got redder / heavier so I went back. They scanned me to confirm that all the tissue was definitely gone and also had a look at my cervix and said that it wasn’t actively bleeding and looked normal. They suggested it could be my period but I’m not convinced. Also said it’s very unlikely to be an infection as no other symptoms and I have been on strong antibiotics since the D and C. I am also on blood thinners due to having two operations in a short period of time.

I am still having these gushes of bright red bleeding once or twice a day. No big clots / not soaking a pad but it will just come out suddenly and stop. Today I was happy as it was a light pink all day and then I had this bright red bleed again which was sudden and lessened to pink again.

Maybe I am expecting too much too soon? I have horrendous health anxiety, so this is driving me mad. I only went to MAU two days ago, so I know there’s nothing else they can do / will be able to tell me if I went tonight. They said to wait a week and see if the bleeding lessens but I can’t see it happening

I had two C-sections, and with both I experienced these gushes of bright red bleeding up to 8/9 weeks. I was worried too, as the initial postpartum bleeding had stopped after approx 2 weeks, so it took me by surprise. I was given antibiotics just in case and had extra check-ups and scans to rule out any leftover tissue, but they didn’t find anything. I believe that’s just how my body reacts in the postpartum period. Good thing they checked you again so try not to worry (I know it’s easier said than done), and cuddle your little one tight! And congratulations! :)
