C-section scar slow recovery 7 months in

Hi, I am seven months post partum, following an emergency C-section to deliver my son. I have had ALOT of issues with my scar, on and off infections in the left hand side ( hematoma was on this side) which kept occurring up until around 4/5 months post partum, I’m now 7 months post partum and tonight the left hand side is really red, smells really bad and has a puss like fluid coming from it. I am really really reluctant to phone the doctors as they don’t seem to care, has anyone else experienced any thing like this and what finally got this to stop for you?

I have been to the doctors every time this has happened and am given the same cream each time which does seem to help for a while but I’m really worried that this isn’t normal healing at all. I always dry my wound thoroughly and keep it clean ( has its own routine at this point) so I just can’t understand how this keeps happening to me.

I would give the GP another visit but also consider other urgent care in your area.
Sometimes a trip to a walk in centre or urgent care gets you far better initial wound care. I also found the nurses did a far better job of "sorting mine out" than the doctors did because they are more used to dressing wounds and incisions in the community.
Also 7 months PP here and after a troublesome time initially I'm all healed - but it did take many trips to the GP (and then the nurses) to get it sorted.
If it's smelling and sore it deffo sounds like an infection so anti biotics may be on the cards.
Hope you heal ASAP! ❤️

Yes I had similar but i didn't have issues as long as you have. I was prescribed antibiotics but also had my own thorough cleaning routine. Bought an antiseptic wash (I think it was hibiwash) that id read other women found good, would clean the area and dry and then put gauzes on twice a day. The antiseptic wash and gauzes all bought from Amazon. It did eventually heal. I hope yours does. Good luck!

Thank you both so so much, feel a lot less alone now I know others have had similar issues. I am going to see the gp tomorrow and try your suggestions too xx
