Yes it can be common to last longer than 5 weeks and also flow can increase if you have done a lot for example, long walks, lots of exercise.

take care, rest and it should resolve soon

Could it be your period returning?
I wasn’t able to breastfeed and my period turned up 5 weeks after birth. I had bled for approx 3.5 weeks and had a break from bleeding then period.

Mine was still on the heavy side at 5 week, and came and went a few times. I believe it's normal 🙂

Justlostmybagel · 02/01/2026 19:53

That was normal for me. I didn't fully stop bleeding until 8+ weeks postpartum.

Usernamenotfound1 · 02/01/2026 19:55

it could be your period. I bled for about 3 weeks, stopped for a few days, then bang on 28 days started again. Straight into a regular cycle.

I was fully breastfeeding as well.

This. I had a c-section . Not sure if that is relevant, but I definitely bled more if I’d been walking a lot etc.
