Spinal tap protocol in the UK

Does anyone know how many times a spinal tap should be attempted for an nhs c-section in the uk?
Im having issues post c-section after having had 3 attempted spinal taps and an epidural for my c-section.
I have an appointment with a consultant Anesthatist and want to be as informed as I can before the appointment so I can’t be fobbed off.

Do you mean a spinal block? A spinal tap is to remove fluid for diagnosis purposes, A spinal block is a 1 time injection into your spine to numb you for surgery and an epidural puts a catheter into your spine that allows for top ups of the medication.

I always thought if they knew a c section was happening it would be a spinal block, no need to remove the catheter afterwards

@IsThisLifeNow
i did mean a spinal block!
sleep deprived mum with brain not braining so well!

They attempted 3 times for a spinal block that failed all 3 times. I then had to have a consultant come and give an epidural.

That sounds really painful and very frustrating, I remember the relief of the spinal when I was in labour with my first, so it must have been torture them messing with your back. I hope you are doing ok

@IsThisLifeNow
honestly at the time it was painful when they attempted the 2nd & 3rd spinal then I was fine and in my newborn bubble.
But then I got to nearly 2/3 weeks postpartum and it’s just gotten worse. I’m now 8 weeks postpartum and just hoping there is something that can be done to help the pain and the time it’s taking away from my little one and I.
