I was up at the hospital yesterday as waste sure if stitch was infected (its not) and checked over by surgeon. After a lot of poking, prodding abd checking the stitch i was also cleared to drive as healing well.

Took the car out today for a 20 minute drive to check how it felt and was fine but now very sore.

Is this more likely to be from yesterday's prodding or the driving?

Should also add my insurance were happy for me to drive given the doc had signed it off so no issues there

Pretty sure I was told not to drive for 6 weeks. Try to rest.

I don’t think anyone can tell you, go easy and only drive if you have to? My husband went abroad for some weeks when I was four weeks post with a 2 year old and newborn and I just had to crack on. I had also had a wound infection. It was fine just uncomfortable but didn’t stop it healing.

My GP told me it was against insurance to drive until 6 week post natal check. He said it is major ab surgery and to not under any circumstances drive until 6 weeks.

How do you think you and your scar would cope with an emergency braking situation?

Cherry85 · 02/11/2025 21:45

@TheHairInClaudiasEyes @Justwingingit2005 no idea but the surgeon who did the section felt it would be fine so feel fairly confident it's ok.... just wondering if it will hurt everytime as dont think i want that.

Dont get me wrong.....still planning on staying home and resting most of the time but live in the country so just good to know I can drive to shops if I run out if nappies etc

You don't get signed of for driving by any surgeon

Your gp isn't the underwriter so why you asking them.

Your gp just looks at a scar. How ridiculous is that.

Also all women are checked at 6 weeks, regardless of birth method. .
