NHS free dental care

My son is 11 months old and i have decided to utilise the free dental care with NHS.

I had my checkup and required filings, I had my first filling today and obviously didnt pay, however my already booked 2nd appointment is 18th July. 7 days after my son is 1.

Because I have already booked it, in the 12month deadline, would I still get it free?

No you’ll have to pay

gamerchick · 04/06/2025 12:01

Why have you left it so.late? You could have been done and dusted by now.

You'll probably have to pay though. Booking doesn't mean anything.

flowerpink · 04/06/2025 16:13

Nope it's when the appointment is. Could you bring the appointment forward?

Aligirlbear · 04/06/2025 17:04

No you will have to pay - delivery of the treatment will be over the 12 month free dental care period.

No you’ll have to pay as you will no longer be exempt, this is really why they say to book to be seen asap

gamerchick · 04/06/2025 20:28

I'm not judging you. It's your gob OP. You can do what you want.

Wow! I think you might be the rudest person I have ever seen on here, and that is saying a LOT.

I had an assessment where I was told a filling was needed when my daughter was 11 months and then the actual filling appointment when she was 12/13 months. That was free as it was a continuation of the original appointment. So it might be ok.

Your exemption continues for this course of treatment , even if it doesn’t finish until after your child is one. It’s when the treatment starts that’s important , so long as it’s just one course of treatment with the same dentist.
