EBF Hungry and Tired!

My son is 12 weeks old and is EBF. He’s sleeping from about 21.00 until 03.30 or sometimes he makes it until 05.00 before he wakes up to be fed so I am getting a good amount of sleep at the moment but I still feel absolutely exhausted. I feel like the sleep is just never enough. I’m eating what I think is enough and drinking enough but I just can’t seem to ever get enough sleep. I’m also always hungry. I feel like I’m never full up.
Maybe I’m lacking in something or is it really that breastfeeding is that tiring?
I’m pretty sure I’m making up enough calories and I have a good milk supply. I know motherhood is exhausting but I feel like I should feel better than I do with the amount of sleep I’m getting.
Any advice? Any tips? Or is it really just that exhausting? Anyone else feel similar?

Part of it will be having a baby to look after and being woken so often but part of it might be low iron. Are you taking a good BFing supplement and are you definitely eating enough? I think tge recommendation is 509 extra calories a day but when I was BFing I thought that they must have missed a extra zero from the end…Grin

If you’re hungry eat more! And definitely drink more as well. I know sleep when he sleeps is such annoying advice, but do try to nap during the day. You’ve grown and are now feeding a whole new human being-it takes it out of you!

Breastfeeding and having a new baby is totally exhausting - don’t feel bad, mama!
Eat more, get in the sunshine/fresh air more (if you’re not already - sounds counter productive but it’ll help), and ensure you’re taking a decent multivitamin 🙂 lots of water, too - breastfeeding is dehydrating!
congrats and all the best.
