Twin pregnancy with two kids - logistics

Wasnt sure where to post this.. just found out im expecting twins and i already have a 4 year old and 3 year old. I live in a flat on the second floor, with no lift in my building. I have already realised i will probably have to move because of the logistics of taking the twins up two flights of stairs for every school run on my own… however, has anyone managed this somehow? Is there a way to get around this that i dont know about? Besides being terrified of how my family is suddenly changing, I also need to plan ahead.

This pregnancy was planned but the twins are a complete shock, which we are trying to get our heads around. Anyway, do i really have to move is what i am asking.

of course i wont be doing school runs in the first few weeks but eventually i will, so how will i manage without another adult around?

You can get some decent twin slings. Congrats OP

Hi OP, congrats! The shock must be wild. We have a double pram called Cybex Gazelle S, I’d really recommend it. It has so many configurations and the basket is so strong I get my 17kg toddler to sit in it sometimes when she’s tired if I only have 1 seat on. It’s one over the other so fits through doors etc. Are you able to chain it under the stairs or something? It folds stood upright also with the seat on so wouldn’t have a large footprint. It is sturdy enough to bump up & down stairs too but obv that would be a lot. I would maybe do the following if I was having twins with this pram:

4 year old walking or jumping on and off a buggy board/the basket depending how good a walker they are. 3 year old in pram seat or on and off the basket also depending how good a walker they are, initially both twins in 1 bassinet and when they’re bigger, 1 twin in the bassinet and 1 twin in a sling.

Hope you get sorted and don’t need to add a house move into the mix too!

Thank you both for responding. The sling idea is something that might work.. although might be a bit of a faff but less stressful than moving home!

I will definitely look into double buggys! Thanks

See if there’s a double buggy with car seats - at least you can carry them downstairs.

But don’t underestimate the benefits of having a ground floor and outdoor space with kids. Plus even a car space rather than a trudge up the road!
