Hi all, any mums/midwives on here who has used/using or know about the Mounjaro weight loss injection.
Im 7 weeks postpartum come this Saturday. Ive put on a weight during the pregnancy, that I just dont think I will be able to shift. I am watching what im eating but im not hard or strict on myself as some of us new mums know the first few weeks of newborns are hardd!
I wasn't happy with my body or my weight before getting pregnant and trying to loose weight is hard for me.
Im wondering if any new mums having started the mounjaro injection, how soon after giving birth? how its been for you? Have you lost much weight? (I know everyone is different)
or if there is any midwives on here what do you recommend, whats your opinion on this?
TIA

Oh babes 7 weeks is no time at all, enjoy your newborn bubble and eat whatever you want and just embrace it, there’s no rush - don’t stress yourself out yet 🥰

I gave myself 6 months PP to enjoy the bubble but understand where you’re coming from as I could have written your post myself. I started mounjaro almost a week ago a few days after hitting 6 months. Go easy on yourself it’s amazing what your body has just done xx

I started MJ at four weeks post partum and have lost two stone in two months

Hi
in my opinion far too early to start. Your body is still repairing itself, I know people have many opinions about weight loss injections and I largely think people are entitled to do what they want with their body but I feel that adding in a substance like this when your body is already doing so much work to repair isn’t advisable. I absolutely get how you feel, I was a semi pro athlete when I got pregnant and in very good shape. I put on 4 stone and at 7 weeks hadn’t lost much. My son is 15 months and I look exactly the same as I did before apart from my waist it a little bit wider. You can absolutely get your body back without munjaro but I understand you wanting to try it, I just think you should give your body the time it needs first.

I get you, it’s nice to know you have something in the back pocket so to speak. Honestly completely fine just not starving all the time! The only minor thing I could pinpoint is that I have had a tiny bit of heart burn but not enough to warrant even taking a Rennie or gaviscon!

It takes 2 years for your body to fully recover from pregnancy and birth. Wait. I get it, I’m 20kg heavier than I was before my first baby (my youngest is 22mo). It’s horrible. But you need to be kind. These first few years are tough!
