Elevated Liver Enzymes - 4months pp

Did anybody have elevated liver enzymes post partum? For context, I am 4 months PP and I had to have a blood test at 12 weeks PP due to having gestational diabetes (I am not overweight or have high BMI or anything , just luck of the draw!). My first blood test came up with something that meant my GP asked me to go for another.

On my repeat blood test my liver enzymes were still elevated and my kidney function was even less than it was on the first test. I've got to go for an ultrasound.

Has anybody experienced this as I have no idea what to think or what's going on?

Thanks Smile

Ps also to add, I'm breastfeeding and had a C section if this is relevant.

Was it your ALT that was up?
if you had gestational diabetes you are also at risk of having a fatty liver and the ultrasound will look for this. Other things (pre eclampsia, infection, gallstones) can also raise liver enzymes. If things are still abnormal now then it is unlikely to be related to the pregnancy, but pregnancy is often the first time many women have had these things assessed.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is caused by a build-up of fat in the liver. It often affects overweight or obese people. Although NAFLD doesn't usually cause serious problems, you should take steps to stop it getting worse.

Do you drink much alcohol? What’s your diet like? It may just be down to one of those things. Try not to worry! X

No not at all! I'm breastfeeding so max I drink is the odd glass of wine!
Could eat healthier but I've been a health food freak most of my life I was giving myself some grace post pregnancy whilst sleep deprived and breast feeding,,..
I had an ultrasound this week so hopefully get the results soon!
