Hello,

My baby is 15 weeks old and for the past week and a half my mood has somewhat just plummeted out of no where. I felt fine one day and woke up the next completely different I feel filled with anxiety and dread as soon as I open my eyes and I feel abit depressed.

I was just wondering is it possible to experience post partum anxiety/depression a while after you've had your baby or? Has anyone had any of experience of this, I spoke to my GP and she seems to think I'm just burnout which has resulted in low mood/anxiety. I just wondered if anyone had experienced this? X

It’s definitely possible yes, it can hit anytime in the first year. X

A week and a half doesn’t constitute enough time for a diagnosis…mood dips are normal in many of us, particularly in winter and particularly when facing the challenges of early parenthood. You will also be possibly experiencing hormonal ups and downs, particularly if you haven’t yet started menstruating. Just try and take good care of yourself and let your OH/ family know you may need a bit more support or rest. Vit D supplements are also a good idea at this time of year.

Yes that's very true. My GP does just seem to think I'm worn out, I have had my periods normally since I had him. So I'm in sure what's caused me to start experiencing so much anxiety etc, I'll keep an eye on it

Hi from what I've found with my experience 6month pp (havnt been seen by gp long waiting times) is it and come and go depends on the day ,sleep is huge factor on mood, the period cycles too. Recommended getting a tracking app for periods. Will help you work out when ur body starts to have more of a pattern (if at all this early on) week before period is worst mentally do due flood of hormones flying everywhere. Be kind to yourself. Might be silly but this is time you should so lil things for urself if u can get the time. Like face mask while feeding lil one ,or fav TV show . My symptoms didn't start till.month 4 when it's darker earlier ans harder to go out with colder conditions. SAD and ppd go hand in hand . Return of the sun will help. Try vitamin d. Be patient with yourself
