Exersise after foreceps, 4th degree tear

I had a bit of a traumatic birth 7 weeks ago. I had a episiotomy and a 4th degree tear with a forceps delivery. I was on my feet cleaning and all sorts the next day and out the day after. With great pain mind and ended up tearing my stitches. Iessons learned, if you are reading this and just had this please just rest for a couple weeks, I ended up in agony.

Anyway all healed now wound wise but my pelvic floor is shot to bits. I want to start running and exercising but not sure it's a good idea. Don't want to make it worse. I can't even clean my teeth without wetting a bit, laughing, coughing, just walking and it happens.

Has anybody had similar and when did your pelvic floor strengthen up enough to start working out/running?. I have a physio follow up appnt soon but wandering if there's any positive stories out there.

Thanks

Not the same but I had a c section and the advice is to wait 12 weeks to start anything intense or with impact. Can you get a mummy MOT from your physio as you'd then be able to get specific advice for yourself on what to start, when and any exercises you could do yourself to help you recover? I found it really helpful, started back slowly at 12 weeks with what was recently and haven't had any complications.

Recommended not recently!

From someone in the exact same position 13 years ago….. do not do this yet!! I had to wait until almost 5 months as I was so sore. I couldn’t even walk up the stairs without help after the birth for three weeks.

TaKe your time and let your body heal, honestly it’s not worth it. I still have problems going number 2 as I was ripped so badly my whole downstairs is a bit of a mismatch.

Pit the feet up and don’t feel under pressure from anyone for anything! You need to rest and heal.

I had a third degree tear that healed well. I was told by the hospital to do no vigorous exercise (like running) for at least 6 months. You need to let your body heal - it takes time. Please do not do any running yet!

Thank you everyone. I will hold off. I'd probably only last a week and give up anyway lol..... I will wait for physio and see what I can actually do for a healthier lifestyle. Thanks
