3rd degree tear & itching

Anyone had similar or has advice very appreciated-

I had a 3rd degree tear 3 months ago. I still have a stitch left (internal but sticking out) advised can take up to 3 months to go. However, what if it doesn’t ? GP said they couldn’t remove it as skin has healed out it. If touched / knocked it’s unpleasant feeling!

I am also experiencing itching that is getting awful - not where stitch is but nearby!! Treated for thrush and hydrocortisone cream but not helping.

has anyone been through this?

I've been through itching eventually was put on amitriptyline this did the trick getting rid of the itching. I had an episiotomy and apparently is common to itch.

Ah thanks for replying. I had pain years ago and ended up on that medication too. I’m breastfeeding so wasn’t sure how safe it was and it made me sleep very deeply which doesn’t feel safe with young baby - did you experience these things? How long were you on it?

Sorry only just caught your reply. It's perfectly safe as I was breastfeeding my baby at that time. It was 15 years ago now though. I didn't suffer fatigue I don't think but is hard to remember as when you're a new Mum your sleep deprived anyway. Also I was iron deficient. It is an anti depressants though my experience of those is that the drowsiness is only for a few days until your body gets used to it. Hopefully your on amitriptyline now but if not do try it as it really helped me.
