Hi since my c section 6 months ago I've had horrendous constipation where I now have a fissure and have to take movicol everyday to be able to go comfortably.
I'm breastfeeding and drink at least 3 litres of fluid a day, and I do have a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables. I exercise all the time walking with the baby in pram or dog.
The past few days with Christmas and everything I've not been as strict with my diet and again today I've had horrendous pain and my fissure has worsened again.
I am so fed up, I've been to gp who has referred me to colorectal, I am so so worried that it could be something serious? It's so bad. Has anyone else experienced this? Gp acknowledged it wasn't normal, it's making me miserable and I'm so concerned.

Sorry for late reply OP.

I had digestive issues until I restored my corset muscles. It’s a giant thin sheaf of muscle like a shopping bag which goes from your diaphragm down to your pelvic floor. It basically holds all your internal organs in place like your intestines.

Mine were all balled up in the bottom literally like a shopping bag. Awful indigestion pains, constipation, gas burping and had a near hernia on one side.

NHS really bad at diagnosing this and recognising this muscle group as a thing. They can’t see past the abdominals separation part which is quite exterior to this muscle group. Other European countries are shit hot on this. France for example rehabs this deeply interior body part as standard for all women post partum.

It sounds weird but it’s a huge thing. Especially for toileting. You can have a too tight pelvic floor and the rest of the shopping bag dsyfunctioning. And pooing is actually very confusing. You need to open the pelvic floor through relaxation which is counter intuitive to when your trying to push a poo IYSWIM.

Look at diaphragmatic breathing to learn how to open your pelvic floor through breathing on the toilet as opposed pushing (which tightens it further). So you essentially breathe a poo passively. If you’re doing pelvic floor exercises just stop! I made that mistake post C hence how I know about the above (Mine was so tight I literally couldn’t wee!)

Also try checking your pelvic tilt in the mirror using a YouTube video. You identify your back bottom dimples and your pelvic bones at the front to see where they are side on. I suspect you have an anterior tilt. If so try to find a traditional pilates rehab to put your spine and pelvic back to neutral and then focus on the corset muscles. This basically looks like breathing exercises and Pilates toe taps for an hour a week for 6 months or so. I had to stop other exercise during this time because the problem was too tight lower back and front thigh muscles were enabling my corset and butt muscles to be dead. Once those muscles were loosened and my pelvis was realigned the shopping bag muscle can retighten and enable correct diaphramptic pressure/ breathing and give proper support to your intestines again.
