Hot flushes / night sweats 3 weeks postpartum - anxiety or hormones?

I’m 3.5 weeks postpartum and have been having hot flushes in bed for the last couple of weeks. I wake up feeling sweaty and clammy but not drenched. No nightmares or anything.

i remember experiencing this with my son and my then midwife told me it wasn’t normal as I assumed it was hormone related. I ended up on anti anxiety medication which did stop the night sweats very quickly (traumatic birth and difficult baby with bad reflux). this time around I had a much better birth and baby no. 2 is much more settled (some reflux issues, addressed early and not as severe). Hence I feel far less anxious than i did with my first child.

So now im wondering if my hot flushes weren’t / aren’t actually caused by anxiety and are due to my hormones. I know these can take 6-8 weeks to settle so do I wait it out or see GP sooner?! I’d rather not take the anxiety meds again if I can help it. Didn’t feel great weaning off them (though I was only on them a few months).

interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

Hey, I had the night sweats with my second. I went to the dr after they had been going on for a couple of months and they weren't bothered. I think they stopped after three months pp.
Speak to the dr if you're worried but I personally wouldn't take any anti depressants.

Just to add- I also had them with my first but they stopped after a week. I think it's definitely hormone related.

Very normal! Just your hormones and another thing that they dont necessarily warn you about.

I'm pregnant currently and have been warned of this by a few friends. Asked my Midwife and they say said postpartum night sweats are common. So in prepared!
