Plagued with constant thrush 7 months PP

Has anyone any experience of this and can please help?

I'm 7 months PP and seems I am plagued with bouts of thrush every month! It seems to start a few days before my period and then takes a while to go after my period, I don't think pads and tampons help (I have to use both at the same time as my flow is so heavy!)

I'm not sure whether this is hormonal or not but I have also had a coil inserted a few months ago.

Also maybe relevant but I tested positive for HPV for the first time a few months ago and now I'm a little paranoid as I've had some bleeding in-between my periods but obviously that could be coil related to. Should I be concerned?

Any suggestions or advice please would be gratefully appreciated! Thank you!

Have you been invited back for a follow up with the HPV result?

If not, maybe you should contact your GP and explain the symptoms you are having and your hpv result and see if they can suggest a prescription that will help. They may have a stronger thrush treatment that you can't get over the counter.

Try to avoid perfumed soaps in that area, and if you have showers, maybe try to get atleast one bath a week so you have have a good soak.
After I had my child I was no longer able to use always pads and had to move to the cotton body form ones.

Hope you get it sorted

I started getting thrush around the time I picked up HPV too. Strange coincidence.
What helped me was the 7 day treatment from Boots for BV and Thrush. 7 days of sticking a pessary in before bed to reset your flora. It worked.

Thank you both, I will try the 7 day boots treatment and contact my GP again to discuss my concerns! Thank you!

The coil did not suit my body at all, I had constant bouts of thursh and BV and chronic abdominal pains. When I reassessed my choice I realised that it's literally a foreign body inserted into your womb, many times the body tries to fight/reject it and this affects vaginally health dramatically.

I hope you get it resolved soon.

Hi op
I suffered with reoccurring thrush for a couple of years before being treated properly. What you need is a 7 day pessary course from the GP and the stronger strength external cream that you need a prescription for. I honestly suffered so badly until a doctor prescribed this course of treatment and it then rarely returned I think once or twice since whereas before it would be every month. Doctors are reluctant to prescribe it so you need to really tell them how it is affecting it. Really sorry you’re going through it it’s horrible x

Thank you everyone for your replies, they're all really helpful! Just wanted to update in case anyone finds the thread and it helps someone else

I purchased the balance activ 7 day pessaries and the shower wash along with the optibac female probiotics and that seems to have helped for now touch wood! X

Also, treat your partner or there is a good chance he’ll reinfect you. Men are often completely asymptomatic when they have thrush.
