I dunno what’s going on with it.

It’s been 5 weeks now and it just keeps opening up, on Friday Dr said no it doesn’t look infected etc but now I’m having thin yellow discharge. I was fine up until 3 weeks no issues now it just won’t heal! What can I do! I’m keeping it clean, letting it air dry etc the dr told me due to it being open/weeping to keep it dressed which I am doing and changing every 12-24 hours as advised. On one positive I did have 2 small openings and one of them does look like it’s finally coming together

Do I just need to be patient?

It is weeping but it’s not painful, not red, not hot etc and I don’t have a temperature so I’m not sure whether anyone else has had this?

I'd go back, the weeping doesn't sound normal to me.

Sdpbody · 19/03/2024 16:31

I would let it air dry with antibiotic cream as well as actual antibiotics. I'm obsessed with detoll and wipes my scar with that daily.

Even bathing it with warm salt water will help

There's a really good wound care board on Reddit. Doctors and surgeons are not always well up on this but there's some good help on there from wound care nurses.

They say you heal from the inside out so it might look bad and then suddenly a lot better

Up your intake of Vitamin C. Hot water with freshly squeezed lemon juice, small tangerines, oranges.

katherine123x · 19/03/2024 17:09

Are you taking it easy? So important to not do any heavy lifting etc 🙌🏼💕

Freddie15VES · 19/03/2024 17:24

Thanks everyone!

and @katherine123x no 🙈🙈🙈 I have done too much I know I have. I have a 3 year old also and I’m finding it tough not being able to entertain him. But noticing this weeping today me and my little lady (only 5 weeks) have done absolutely nothing as my boy has been at nursery! Going to do the same tomorrow and rest up. Our own worst enemies aren’t we!!

It might need a dressing on it, can you make an appointment with your GP practice nurses. You can ask to be referred to the local tissue viability nurses by them, they specialise in wound care (I'm one!)

Freddie15VES · 19/03/2024 17:40

@Girliefriendlikespuppies yes it has a dressing on it at the moment! My Dr gave me 12 post surgical dressings!

You need to be careful. No heavy lifting (this includes baby, make sure you are holding them not putting pressure on your stomach, no driving, gentle walking with the pushchair

MoreHairyThanScary · 19/03/2024 17:59

Has it been swabbed?

Ask for review by the practice nurse, and possibly a consult wit( tissue viability. You may benefit from a small vac dressing to help the wound come together ( something like a PICO) to support the wound edges.

We sometimes forget that a C Section is big surgery and doing to much afterward puts pressure on the wound.

katherine123x · 19/03/2024 19:07

@Freddie15VES just try your best to take it easy .. maybe floor play or something!! Any extra pressure won't help! Even hanging the washing out etc.

You need to be more careful. I know it's hard when you've got kids, but ideally you're supposed to do zero lifting/bending/any kind of exertion for 6 weeks to allow the wound to heal. Any sort of tension or pressure on it will stop it healing.

I had abdominal surgery last year with an open incision - mine was healed after about 2-3 weeks but I didn't do any exertion for 7 weeks to make sure it was properly healed.

Difficult I know, but try to rest a bit more, or at least avoid any lifting! Even lifting a full kettle is out.

butterflyhigh · 19/03/2024 19:39

Go to Amazon and buy Prontosan wound irrigation fluid and also the gel. Clean twice daily with this using gauze / cotton then the gel. Given to me by hospital midwife after similar issues. Also need to take it easier on the lifting / movement.

Bellesmother · 19/03/2024 21:09

My csection wound hadn't healed 6 weeks after my first child until I started using Caldesene powder on it a few times a day...it was healed up within a week!!

Namexchangex · 19/03/2024 21:22

Take it easy and get it swabbed, you might need abx

Freddie15VES · 20/03/2024 07:15

Thanks for all the recommendations

I’ve woken up this morning and there’s no more weeping and it does look a whole lot better than it did. A swab was taken on Friday so just awaiting the results again.

feeling a bit more positive about it. I’ve attached a pic so you can hopefully send me words of encouragement 😂😫

currently laying on the bed letting all the air get to it then I’ll dress it again

the right side that was initially open seems to be closed now which is good
