Anybody had epidural nerve paid 6 months after birth? It wasn't a smooth insertion but I seemed okay after, bit of mild back pain.

Now I'm in agony all the time going to my hands and feet.

Please help me has anyone experience this? What do I do??

Why do you think it's too do with the epidural?

I had this from my epidural insertion. It lasted many years. The solution offered by the doctor was a steroid injection into the epidural space, but I told him no-one was going near there with a needle again.

Hi OP

Im going through the same thing. My DS is 2.6 yrs old and since his birth my back hasn’t been right. I had an ‘elective’ c-sec with spinal block. I remember the anaesthetist having difficulty getting the cannula in the right place in my spine. It took a few tries before it went in. Before they started the op, the anaesthetic took a while to kick in as I still had some sensation during the ice/needle prick test. After my son was born, and they were stitching me up, I began to feel intense pain and informed the surgeon. They gave me fentanyl but did warn that if it didn’t work, they’d have to put me under general anaesthetic to complete the surgery. Thankfully the fentanyl worked but since then, I’ve not been right.

I’ve chronic lower back pain, to such an extreme that I’m struggling to stay in work. I wake up every morning to pain and stiffness in my back. I’ve suffered bouts of sciatica, pins and needles down my legs, sharp pain down my spine and a feeling like my spinal discs are bulging. On some days it takes a good hour before I can even stand up. Getting dressed is a mammoth task and done through gritted teeth. Sitting down for long hours at a computer has become excruciating! A sit stand desk has been trialled but the pain killers I’ve been put on give me brain fog and fatigue.

I’ve been referred to Rheumatology and they thought I might have Ankylosing Spondilitis, however my spinal and pelvic MRIs don’t show any inflammation, though there are some slight degenerative changes. They still don’t know what the cause is, but it’s only when I think back, that I’ve realised that the pain seemed to start not long after I had DS. I’ve gone back over my medical records and it’s apparent that my back issues started soon after c-sec birth. I’m now wondering whether it’s caused permanent nerve damage. Every day is inflicted with pain and I’m really at my wits end with it all!

Sorry to hijack/offload, I just need somewhere to vent and gather information as to what I need to do next.

Have you had any result from your doctors?
