NHS trust says transgender women’s milk just as good for babies | Evening Standard

This sounds like utter madness. How can milk made from a cocktail of drugs to stimulate milk in a male be just as good as naturally made maternal milk. Quite honestly i find the idea of man trying to breast feed revolting.

It makes me feel sick thinking about it.

What mother would allow her baby to be used like this?

wheo · 27/02/2024 11:24

Isn't one of the benefits of breast milk the sharing of antibodies between mother and baby?

Daisybuttercup12345 · 27/02/2024 11:25

Bloody ridiculous 🙄

In good faith?? Are you kidding?

By calling breast milk 'human milk'? Deliberately muddying the waters?

By referring to a 'study' of ONE trans woman who apparently fed their baby as 'informative'??

It's bollocks, that's what it is. Mealy-mouthed appeasing nonsense with not a shred of medical evidence.

What is it with bloody Sussex? First the uni, now the hospital.

They called it "human milk" so as to use a gender neutral term for trans men (females who have transitioned). The same origin as "chest feeding".

I don't agree with it, but it is incorrect to suggest that was done to obfuscate that males were lactating and feeding babies. Because they aren't. In the same way they aren't having period cramps, despite claiming they do.

Anyway I don't want to get embroiled in yet another thread about trans women breastfeeding so I've said all I need to.

CactusMactus · 27/02/2024 13:02

And what is happening to the real mother and her milk while her baby is being fed male secretions?

Kendodd · 27/02/2024 13:08

With regard the term 'human milk' I actually prefer it. Its also accurate and formula is cows milk. We should call it what it is.

Well quite. I really pray we don't end up with malnourished babies because males have disrupted the actual mother's milk supply or think that their drug induced secretions are sufficient to be the sole source of nutrition. The NHS letter is dangerous. It puts babies at risk of harm. Disgraceful.

Well any woman having a baby with these deluded self centred entitled men need help anyway, stupid bloody bitches.

Ha ha I doubt these men think anything about the benefits for baby, it’s all about the menz feelings isn’t it?!!

LoveSandbanks · 27/02/2024 13:58

Men have the same mammary glands as women. The difference is fat distribution and hormones. Breastfeeding has health and emotional benefits for infants and mums. It’s been known for decades that with the right hormone stimulation that men can breastfeed.

women have demanded bodily autonomy but aren’t prepared to give it to others!

And the health of the baby? Where do they fit in to your "bodily autonomy"? It's not just about the selfish desires of males, others are affected here too.

Gosh darn those dastardly women having to demand autonomy (from men).

How is the health of the baby negatively affected? They’re getting breast milk with all the antibodies that come with it. The hormones secreted would be just like those secreted from a born female.

I don’t give a shit if it’s kind or not, I’ll say it - babies are not there to be props for some man’s perverted fantasy of being a ‘woman’.

Common sense tells us a man’s chemical filled pus is nothing like the real thing. I can’t believe we are even having this conversation ffs.

This x1000...yet the fucking madness never seems to end.

HoorayForRain · 27/02/2024 14:24

'Comparable' doesn't mean 'the same'. Semantics really matter her. I'm not anti-trans in any way, but this doesn't sit well with me.

Source of your information please.

This just screams bullshit to me, but you sound knowledgeable so will be able to cite your references.

Don't be silly. Breastfeeding is an extraordinarily sensitive process which in a woman is set off by the process of going through pregnancy and birth and there is a complex feedback process going on between mother and baby which affects how much milk is made and its composition. This simply can't happen in a male body as no male mammal on earth is ever going to give birth.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 14:42

Millions of years of mammalian development during which the females have done all the gestation and producing and feeding with milk. In human terms, the huge benefit of men being able to breastfeed safely, producing good quality milk in enough quantity to keep a human baby alive and healthy, would be (a) to benefit the mother by enabling her to get enough rest and (b) to massively increase the chances of the baby getting enough milk to survive. And now a few deluded men and healthcare practitioners are trying produce milk in an unsafe way with no realistic prospect of there being enough milk to feed a baby and is it to benefit mothers and babies? No, of course not. It's all about how it makes the men feel, and to hell with the welfare of everybody else. It disgusts me.

Rainbowshit · 27/02/2024 15:03

"How is the health of the baby negatively affected? They’re getting breast milk with all the antibodies that come with it. The hormones secreted would be just like those secreted from a born female."

No. Transwomen have to take artificial horomones at multiple times that level found in actual females, they have to take much higher doses of domperidone compared to a female. They do not have the feedback loop that adjusts the mother's milk to suit the baby's needs. They also cannot produce anything like the volume females can. The milk has not been extensively tested to ensure it is safe. Need I go on?

Wow people actually believe this shit?

Unreal.

Also where is this baby coming from? Which sick surrogate is having a baby and handing it over to these nut jobs?

I cannot deal with this world anymore.
