Poo problems 3 months PP

As the title says, I'm having bowel issues 3 months after giving birth. Sorry this is a long one!

Baby was born via elective section almost 3 months ago. After the birth of was about a week until I had a bowel movement so I was a bit constipated. Got that over and done with and I then started having loose movements a few times a day with no warning, just a sudden urgency and I was having to run to the toilet. This eventually stopped and bowel movements were less loose and seemed like they were going back to normal. However because of the constant diarrhea, I had piles or maybe a fissure, not sure but it was like I was pooing glass. Got anusol suppositories and they instantly helped. Used them for the maximum week that you can.

And then the diarrhoea started again. I'm not saying the anusol caused it, just that it started again. Its not as bad as before, so it's less urgent though there still are times when I'm having to run to the loo. I get loose stools maybe once a day. Sometimes it'll stop for a day or two then it'll come back. I started taking probiotics a couple of days ago and felt like they were starting to help, things seemed a bit more solid and less urgency. But tonight, after saying to my partner earlier, oh brilliant I think the diarrhoea is finally away, I've had to go 4 times, my stomach is in bits and my arse is on fire.

I've read this can be normal after birth, and especially after antibiotics (I had a few different doses after infection in my wound), but just wanted to hear if this had happened to anyone else, how they got it to stop and is there anything I can do?

I think 3 months of it is a long time to put up with this and be constantly uncomfortable

Have you spoken to GP etc? Probably time to do so

Hey , I'm nearly 8 months pp from v traumatic vaginal birth and I've had exactly the same issue after having my son. Basically been diagnosed with IBS/ food intolerances. Low fodmap diet really helps but it's been a long journey figuring all this out for me. I think stress and hormone changes can cause this....Not saying this is the same for you but maybe something to think about. See if low fodmap helps for a few weeks, it's crazy what pregnancy and birth can do to your body xx

So by chance I was at the nurse yesterday for a smear so asked her for advice while I was there. She said to give the probiotics a week to see if they would help, because that would be what she (and probably the GP) would have suggested to try anyway. That yes, antibiotics can really mess up your gut and because I had a few different ones after it might just be from that. So will report back in a week and if no chance will call the GP

@Nomoreplease2016 so 9 months pp I can definitely say that it's better, going to the toilet a normal amount and poo seems to be a regular consistency etc if perhaps a little bit soft in comparison to before. I found that taking symprove was the thing that helped the most. It's that thing all the influencers promote on Instagram so I was sceptical but I can now say that after stopping taking it for a week and ending up with really bad wind and bloating that it seems to be helping and I can't wait to get back home and take it again (on holiday ATM hence why I haven't been taking it). What I will say is that it did take a while for it to work for me, a few months, which is what most people say.

Thanks so much & glad to hear it’s gotten better! I’m just 3m PP after my second section & bowel movements have just been a bit all over the place, but I also know my hormones are a bit out of whack still. Nevertheless I’m going to my GP next week & will mention !
