Baby and Lactulose

Hello,

My little boy has been prescribed lactulose by the paediatrician - he’s only 2 weeks old.

Would we add the lactulose to his milk or try and give it in the syringe? (He’s only having 1ml)

thank you

Not given at that age but have had it myself and given to dc when young. It's quite thick/sticky so might be difficult in a bottle. I'd try giving it in a syringe. You can always do it in two half's, try squirting it to the back at the side.
I have given lots of medication to my dc and one thing I've found is that the two that had medication from newborn just accepted it and took to it better than the one who only had occasional medication. Even now as teenagers they take regular medication with no issues. Start as you mean /need to go on.

Not sure on that one. I've never heard of such a young baby being prescribed it. If you're in the UK, are you still under the MW?

We are under the midwife still but she told me to contact 111 or my GP. My GP contacted our local children’s hospital and the on call paediatrician advised that our baby could take 1ml twice a day but will be monitored by the GP. We used a syringe that the chemist provided with the lactulose.

@Bagthepaperandshred Thank you. He had it in a syringe and took it easily.
