Can I give bottles before milk comes in or will that stop milk coming in?

I breastfed my first born from day one but I'm just wondering if baby I'm due soon can have a night of bottles when we're home from hospital so I can have a nights sleep before milk comes in?

Or will that prevent my milk coming in properly?

It would only be through the first night we are home (just so I can give myself a good start) as I became very sleep deprived when my first was born

Thank you 😊

My understanding is that you should absolutely not give a bottle beforehand unless it’s medically necessary. It will stop your baby suckling which will in turn stop your milk coming in. Also, it’s better for your baby to have your colostrum which is the liquid produced by you before and just after birth. They call colostrum liquid gold as it is so nutritious and full of antibodies. Your midwife will guide you. Enjoy the newborn cuddles!
