Episiotomy woes

Just need to get it out :(

Had an episiotomy 21 weeks ago. Went to gp at 11 weeks as I could see it had overgranulated, told it was a 2 month wait for a referral to gynaecology. I have private health insurance so went for a private consultation.

At the private consultation was given silver nitrate and referred back to the NHS for follow up in 2 weeks. No follow up came, managed to chase it up and get an appointment for 3 weeks after the first. Had silver nitrate again.

It's now been another 3 weeks and I've been forgotten about again. Waiting for the hospital to call me to give me another appointment. I've tried calling it goes to answerphone.

My scar is now bleeding and sore again.
Really really fed up!

Can anyone give me any hope ....

I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. If it’s bleeding i’d say you really need to be seen urgently. I’d possibly call your HV for advice to see if they can fast track you anywhere, call your GP for advice and tbh I’d also call 111 to see if they can get you seen urgently

Thank you for replying?

I'm not sure what anyone could do ... I find people are a bit hopeless with this as the receptionist etc don't know what an episiotomy is 😂

Gp is a no go today as unless you call at half 8 there's no appointments. When I went before they didn't really know what to do with me. Where would 111 send me?

Thanks!

111 are able to book appointments for you in places like out of hours or a&e. I’d say definitely give them a call.

Thank you if the hospital don't get back to me I'll call 111 :)

Can you go back to the private gynae? I’ve given up on the NHS almost completely right now (also postpartum).

Not too keen on going back private as didn't have the best experience there either.

The hospital have now called and I have an appointment tomorrow whoo hoo!

NHS postpartum care really is a joke. It's like the baby is born and we've done our bit and it's to the dogs for us 😂

I had this when I had my DD 3 years ago. It was during COVID and the nurse who checked it at about 8 weeks PP said they'd usually freeze it but because it was classed as non-essential at the time, couldn't. It was basically like a skin tag and she told me to get my husband to tie cotton round it and treat it as such. Needless to say, I bypassed that suggestion 😂 it suddenly healed a few weeks later though and I've had no problems since.
