Stopping Breastfeeding

This is probably a silly question but just looking for advice/ answers.

I was combination feeding my 10 week old, I simply wasn't producing enough milk and they are particularly greedy!
They got so frustrated with my boob that they weren't getting enough fast enough and it was stressfull for me. I had to take a course of antibiotics which I wasn't allowed to BF on, so I pumped and dumped (the most I ever got in a day was about 6oz which my baby would have demolished in one feed) and have now realised they only ever really soothed on my boob, not having a full feed.

They are now completely off the boob, not even soothing before naps.
I'm now trying to dry my milk supply up and could really do with some suggestions?

Also once my milk has dried up if there ever is an odd occasion when baby is particularly grizzly and hard to get to sleep, if I were to use the boob to soothe- would it bring my milk back?

I'm very happy now bottle feeding, baby is growing lovely and is sleeping better than ever.

I'm afraid I can't help with suggestions on how to dry your milk up, but on your question about can you settle baby with boob occasionally. The problem is, if you do it regularly enough then yes, your milk supply may be kept up, if you only do it once every so often then chances are your baby will lose their latch and you wouldn't be able to settle them in that way anyway. If you don't want to breastfeed then probably best not to plan for the occasional feed

Tbh I would switch to a dummy for soothing purposes. To dry your milk up I would just stop feeding/pumping and only express a little if you are uncomfortable. It will dry up very quickly once the demand stops.
Watch out for a slump in your hormones, be kind to yourself, don’t expect to do much whilst your hormones settle.

I think it's going to be very unlikely that it would work. Like the PP said.your LO will probably lose their latch and even if they could latch, the lack of milk probably wouldn't comfort them.

Just to mention her how much you pump is absolutely no reflection on how much you're producing btw. Your baby will be much more efficient at getting any milk out than the pump Wink

Thanks all for your advice!

My supply is slowly lessening and we've managed to find a dummy babs is happy with! Spent a small fortune figuring that out though 🙀 I must admit, I feel very guilty stopping but I am loving the freedom of not being having her attached to me several hours a day!
Now just to figure out how to stop her waking up the moment the dummy falls out her mouth 🤔
