C section infected scar

I recently found out I’ve got a infection in my c section scar at 8 weeks pp, I started antibiotics (flucloxacillin 500mg) Friday and I noticed Saturday and today I’ve been getting a stinging pain whenever I lift up my overhang after washing it. I don’t know if this is normal or not as this is my first c section and I don’t have a midwife either anymore as got discharged so any help will be amazing

oh dear OP, that’s rough. Hope you’re doing ok. The stinging could be linked to the infection but could also just be the fact it’s a wound that needs to heal. The antibiotics you’ve been given should start to make a difference within 48hours so hang in there, you should start to feel a difference tomorrow.

I found my scar stung a lot when it was healing - even though I didn’t have an infection. I used ‘Expert Midwife - Spritz for Bitz’. I was hoping to have a normal birth - which was why I bought that spray as I’d read good things - turns out it was also good to use on the scar to keep it clean and healthy. could be worth a try?

Anyway, keep on with the antibiotics but if the stinging continues into tomorrow it might be worth a GP appointment just to have someone look at it and be sure.

Thank you, it’s so frustrating as I’ve been messed about since the 6th of March. I’m hoping I’ll feel better tomorrow because it’s very depressing as I can’t do much anymore 😭 I need to ring doctors for swab results but praying the pain will go

Ahh I know how you feel as I had a womb infection and couldn’t do a thing as I felt so poorly. If you’re not satisfied, keep going back to speak to the GP until you get the answers or help you need.

…but I do suspect the stinging is a normal part of recovery and if not, any infection will clear up with the antibiotics. You could maybe try some sudocream on the wound? Another thing I did was to put a maternity pad with some of the ‘spritz for bits’ across my wound under my clothes which stopped things rubbing on it.

lots of love

I might buy some of that! I’m hoping it’s just from me pulling up my overhang while cleaning it, hard being a big girl with a section scar honestly 😅
