Slow HR postpartum

Hi all,
I had a rough pregnancy and was experiencing bad tachycardia during my pregnancy, which in turn meant my resting HR was pretty high (upper 90's). Prior to pregnancy it was still high, but not 90's, often sitting in the upper 60's or 70's and 80's. Postpartum however I've noticed a real drop in my HR and it now rests between 47 and 52 bpm which is really abnormal for me. Doctors don't seem to be too worried but it's new for me and online I read that it's technically bradycardia which is something to be worried about? I'm just concerned as my heart was weird in pregnancy and it just feels weird now.

Context: I've had a normal echocardiogram PP but was on beta blockers at that time. I'm not anymore.

This happened to me! No idea why and I also had echocardiograms and ecgs which were all fine. I just figured that my body was fitter after being pregnant, birth and a baby that didn't like me sitting down. She's almost 3 now and my resting heart rate is still on the lower end of normal but I'm not as active since returning to work. Hope that helps! I did find it concerning but the GP didn't.

Hello - what was the outcome of this for you please? Did it resolve? X

Wmoejg · 21/01/2024 19:01

@newmum242 returned to normal with time. Had a holtor monitor, was fine. Maybe request a 24 or 48 hr monitor.
But feel absolutely fine now with normal heart!

@Wmoejg thank you! Hopefully will be the same for me too. I'll give it some time to adjust x

newmum242 · 23/01/2024 12:49

@Wmoejg ps. How long did it to take to settle?

Wmoejg · 23/01/2024 13:16

@Wmoejg thank you so much. And thanks for replying. I got a reading of 47bpm this morning and freaked out - my bp is usually around 80. And in pregnancy it was 100-130. Very strange indeed! X

Heart rate even **

Sarahjsxx · 28/08/2024 11:39

I have this right now at 10 weeks pp! I've always had palpitations (which I tracked to being hormonal) in early pregnancy, my heart rate was going from 80 siting down to 140 when standing up. It regulated after a while but was still higher during pregnancy. Now I've started wearing my Apple Watch again, in the last month. I noticed my heart rate is alot lower postpartum, I left my watch on by mistake in the night and it was 45 at one point! Worried but I had several ecgs and 3 day holter monitor whilst pregnant and nothing was found
