I'm 3 and a half months post natal and no sign of aunt flo, should I be worried or give it some more time?

6 months and nothing yet! I’m pretty sure it’s around a year if breastfeeding?

Sucessinthenewyear · 28/01/2023 21:19

4 1/2 month despite ebf. I was hoping for much longer. Are you bf or ff?

Eastereggsboxedupready · 28/01/2023 21:19

I bf all of mine. Period returned 4 weeks later.

10 months x2, ebf both

MillenialAvocado · 28/01/2023 21:21

I think mine was about 3 months or so. I wasn't BF so the GP wanted me to do a blood test but luckily my period returned after my appointment.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/01/2023 21:24

8 weeks later. EBF as well. FFs.

silverpinecones · 28/01/2023 21:25

I breastfed my first until she was 2. Period came back about 1 year in I think.

Second child just turned 2 and am trying to give up bf. It only came back last week!!!

Cuppasoupmonster · 28/01/2023 21:25

A month after I stopped breastfeeding at 8 months.

Glitterstars · 28/01/2023 21:27

just had mine at 3 months and I am EBF. Gutted a little bit as wanted longer ha! Looked into it and if your baby goes long periods at nighttime without a feed you can ovulate so periods return quicker. I suppose I shouldn’t complain as it is a bonus that he sleeps well at night

everythingsapickle · 28/01/2023 21:28

14 or 15 months. It returned a few weeks after I stopped BF, although had been down to two feeds a day for a few months as he preferred food to milk, so not sure if the timing was linked.

shard5 · 28/01/2023 21:28

With all 5 pregnancies my period came 15 days after my post partum bleeding stopped. I was ebf all of them, still.

Bumblebee412 · 28/01/2023 21:28

Long story on the feeding (adamantly tried bf despite tongue tie, allergies, lack of support etc and expressed every 2 hours, used domperidone etc but just not sustainable for me with older DC and still sad about it so no hate please) He has been exclusively formula fed for 3 weeks as he was even reacting to the natural lactose in my breast milk (I'm talking swollen eyelids level)

I honestly can't remember with my daughter but that was 8 years ago and was such a different post partum journey, I didn't even get post partum bleeding at all. Whereas this time I has a good 8 weeks of it but none of it could be classed as a period.

I'm on the pill and I know that's can stop them but it's the same pill I've had before and I had monthly periods on it.

I'm just one of these people that prefers to have AF just to confirm I'm not pregnant because there's only so many pregnancy tests a girl can take 😂

No hate on the formula, bf is hard enough without all of the challenges you faced so don’t beat yourself up over it xx

I've read that you should get checked if it's not back by 3 months, especially as although he got breast milk it was from expressing into a bottle mostly so I don't count that as bf as I know exclusive bf can delay them like some previous posts have said but not all the time

@Bumblebee412 I didn't go to the GP especially about that, I think I just mentioned it during one of the post natal check ups. I'm not sure if you need it checked out after 3 months or not. I would say if you're expressing then obvs you're producing breast milk, so it's still possible that could delay it. I wasn't producing any milk at all.

YahYahadahling · 28/01/2023 21:52

Not until about 6-7 months post natal, I BF up to about 5 months.

TulipVictory · 28/01/2023 21:54

Returned at 14 months, i breastfed for 23 months

OceanbreezeSun · 28/01/2023 21:56

Mine didn’t return till dd was 16 months old!
She was a prolific breastfeeder though and I was still feeding her through the night a few times.

Same here this time round 🥲

kagerou · 28/01/2023 21:59

Nearly 18 months for me (started to get very worried but it came eventually!)

Breastfeeding but also having solid food from 6 months so don't know why it took so long

Bumblebee412 · 28/01/2023 22:03

So many different answers, thanks everyone.

I'm probably not going to rush to the doctors, I feel fine otherwise.

So sorry to all the ladies who got it back sooner than they would have liked and everyone who wanted it back sooner, unpredictable is definitely part of the motherhood journey
