I’ve been on 4 weeks of blood thinning injections and the area around where I’ve been injecting there has been a hard lump under the skin of lower stomach (not on, you can’t see it).

I went to the doctors yesterday who felt it and didn’t even question anything else just straight away said yep done by the injections this gave me a lot of relief as she said no concerns at all but I have health anxiety and I’m back to worryin again.

so

hard lump under skin near injection site?

Are you not moving around where you are injecting slightly each time?

But yes, totally normal and nothing to worry about. The Dr has felt it and reassured you so try not to worry, it happens. It will go eventually.

YorkshireLawyer · 28/01/2023 11:39

Yes, this is normal. I was told to inject in different places every time to avoid this happening.

Mamato3minis · 28/01/2023 13:34

For about a week I used the same side 😩 I wasn’t told about this

I was told you can inject in the stomach or thighs. What does it say on the data sheet enclosed?

Todaynotalways · 28/01/2023 14:04

I did a combo of stomach and thighs, and I could feel lumps in my thighs (less fat covering than my stomach).

I too was advised to vary the injection sites.

I was the same, the lumps finally disappeared about 4/5 weeks after I’d finished the injections

Oh that’s reassuring to hear, was yours hard too?

I’ve been on them my whole pregnancy and sometimes get a lump, I’ve got one at the moment. It’s normal and if you keep switching sides you’ll spread out the lumps and bruises. Don’t rub the site after jabbing.

Yes they were pretty firm. I’d also been injecting insulin several times a day as I had really bad GD so my poor stomach had had enough by that point 🙈

I've had to inject blood thinners daily for 2 while pregnancies I would say it took 4-6 months for all my lumps to go. It's normal and happens because you are injecting into fat.

Think of the area ie your stomach as a clock ⏰
where you inject

With your belly button in the middle

First injection at 12

Next at 3

Next at 6

Next at 9

And so forth

If you use your thigh then alternate each side

Write ✍️ it down in a notebook, scrap of paper to remind you write the date, time and area of body and which side

Ireallydohope · 09/02/2023 17:28

So 12 is above your belly button

Needle goes straight in and not at an angle

3 is to the side of your belly button

6 is underneath belly button

9 is the other side of belly button

Avoid however the hard part to let it recover

eleven2023 · 09/02/2023 17:29

@Mamato3minis yes they were. Please don't worry about them.
